2019 CVMC Community Wellness Program

Carson Valley Medical Center's vision is to strengthen our community by providing accessible, affordable, high-quality healthcare to all.

Hand-in-hand with that vision, we have constructed an annual Community Wellness Program focused on helping members of our community improve their health through affordable wellness screenings, health education courses and resources and youth- and senior-specific programs.

Douglas County ranks seventh out of 17 counties in Nevada in Quality of Life when it comes to self-reported poor or fair health. Our hope is that this program will help lead to an improvement in that ranking in the coming years.

Some of the events, courses and benefits available to the community include:


Offered Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the CVMC Lab. No physician's orders necessary. Just check in at the admitting department located near the front entrance of the CVMC main campus, 1107 Highway 395 in Gardnerville.
$40 Wellness Panel (Includes comprehensive panel and lipid panel -- requires an eight-hour fast beforehand. Water and medications OK).

$30 Prostate Evaluation (PSA)
$30 Diabetes Screening (A1C)
$35 Thyroid Evaluation (TSH)
$40 Free Thyroxine (Free T4)
$50 Vitamin D Evaluation
$50 Electrocardiogram (EKG)
 Insurances will not be billed for community wellness services. Cash, check and credit/debit cards accepted.


Heart Health - February

Lipid panel, arterial & vascular screening and EKG: $99 combined. More information here

Hearing Screenings - March

Free hearing screening offered at CVMC Occupational Medicine in honor of World Hearing Day. Call 775-782-1610 for more information & dates. 

Women's Health - May

Women's Health Assessment (ABI screening, lipid panel, A1C diabetes screening, Vitamin D evaluation, TSH screening): $99 combined. Offered on Wednesdays in May by appointment (call 775-782-1533).

DEXA bone density test: $50 on select dates in May by appointment (call 782-1550).

Men's Health - June

Men's Health Assessment (A1C Diabetes Screening, Lipid Panel, PSA (Prostate Evaluation), Vitamin D Evaluation). Available on Wednesdays through June. Call 775-782-1533 for more information. 

Mammograms & Mocha - October

Screening mammogram and free mocha in CVMC Bistro: $50

Lung Health Screening - November

Discounted PFT offered each Wednesday in November, by appointment. More information to come

Youth Sports Physicals

Free youth sports physicals are offered through Minden Family Medicine, 1649 Lucerne Street in Minden, every Thursday by appointment only. 


Senior Birthday Celebrations

Each month at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. Free blood pressure checks and medication evaluations offered.

Silver Screenings

Offered two times a year in conjunction with Ironwood 8 Cinemas in Minden. A mini health fair with glucose screenings, vaccines and fall risk assessments in the theater lobby prior to a special daytime showing of a current movie. Keep an eye out for details on dates and times.
